Natural Draught Cooling Towers

ENEXIO Power Cooling Solutions is at present constructing the largest Natural Draught Cooling Tower for two 500 MW Power Projects. It has developed in-house capability to design and construct the towers by itself.
  • Kakathiya Thermal Power Station: Height of the tower – 156 m
  • Vijayawada Thermal Power Station: Height of the tower – 151 m
  • Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station: Height of the tower – 180 m

Natural draught wet cooling towers have been used for nearly 100 years mostly for water-cooling in large power stations.

The major economical advantage of natural draught cooling towers is the extremely low auxiliary power consumption.

The major economical advantage of natural draught cooling towers is the extremely low auxiliary power consumption.

Since there are no rotating parts, operational safety and low maintenance costs are ensured . The great distance between air inlet and air exit from the cooling tower safely prevents any hot air recirculation that would otherwise reduce the performance of the cooling tower. The immediate vicinity is not affected by plumes from the cooling tower since the hot air exit is situated at a very high elevation. During the past 30 years GEA Energietechnik GmbH, Germany has built natural draught cooling towers for a variety of applications and water mass flows.
